Google penalizes Video Bloggers for Keyword Stuffing

Google recently announced amongst the inner SEO circle headed up but Matt Cutts that they have developed a way to penalize video bloggers who are ‘Stuffing’ their video blog posts with keywords!

After a final rush of development activity at Google HQ where they pulled an all nighter in the Labs a statement was released this evening by Matt.

Blackhat SEO techniques are the bane of our lives at Google and it has been brought to our attention that after year’s of work from the Google team our endeavors have to take a new twist. We recently started indexing Video posts and have been very concerned with the results from some authority figures using ‘Keyword stuffing’ and other subliminal techniques to hypnotize their visitors into action’s that they would not normally take like buying that blogger’s latest sensational ebook!

A key example of this technique is shown below from the authority blogger Michael Martine who mentions ‘Search Engine Optimization’ and ‘SEO’ a total of 57 times in what is sub Seven minute video post!

Another example of how overdoing keyword’s like ‘Microsoft’ will get Chris Brogan penalized under Google’s new system.

Mr Cutts added after the Interview that this will be ‘Google’s number one focus in 2009′ and that every kind of new technology encompassing speech to text translation and interpretation will be utilized in the mission to overcome these ‘Unfair Practices’.

When confronted with the news Mr. Martine was heard to say “Hell yeah, I totally keyword stuffed that bitch” with no further comments after his lawyer intervened.

Mr. Brogan looked in shock when we confronted him at his beach front property and was just managed a ‘No comment!’ before closing the door.

  1. Really cool article here, so cool its beyond cool, cool doesn’t come close to describing how awesomely cool this is. Joke. Ha, joke again. It is cool. Or is it? ;0)

Seriously, not that was funny really interesting post. BUt also good to see Google quickly attending to this. You think Magpie is bad, stuffing Video posts with keywords is like watching Amercian TV. YOu watch the adverts to get some clips of regular shows.

    Thanks ROGER.

  3. Actually I’m responding to the above short Comic ‘So Cool’ and to the subject ‘Cool Bloggers’ which isn’t the exact topic of this post of yours.
However I want to say this: Some bloggers have done great, for some time, in teaching others to blog, OK. Now this led to a big number of stereotype blogs and stereotype blogging and stereotype posts.
For example this fashion of making posts with the topic: ‘10 things on how to do this’, ‘99 things on that’ etc. A lot of the advice given does NOT apply to niche blogs. Besides, it leads to a typical boring appearance of so called ‘cool blogs’.
Now to get back to the actual topic of your post: SEO & KeyWord stuffing: KeyWords are usually produced from a kind of ‘rational calculation’ and are based on ‘rational research and tools’. Now with the practical experience of ‘life communication’ per chat, per twitter, facebook etc. the actual relevance of keywords might tend to be not as important as the ‘emotional messages’ that are sent by a blogger or other communicator.
The emotional message is not one that can be obtained through plain keywords but comes from the evaluation of the continual lifestream of a communicator.
To make it short now: The Obtainance of Meta Information does not necessarily rely on keywords but of other factors.
(Hope I got this somehow across, I’m no English native speaker).

Well seems I always get to the party late. This is probably a good thing just like seat belts, and speed signs. To me it just doesn’t make a lot of sense. Call me green – but I thought the whole point of google was to provide search results adn that it was my job to weed through those results to find what I need. Irritating but there are other search engines to use if I am not able to check through too, so basically they are doing the same thing. Keyword DESTUFFING in order to make sure people use just their search and then they get advertising dollars… I think I am understanding this right, not sure.

Take that google! Ehow groups are new this last week … I can only handle so many changes at once, google changes will have to wait :)

I don’t understand… Is this keyword stuffing an html thing or are you talking about the words spoken in the video? How can google see/hear those words?

  8. Roger says:

    @Michael bring it on! ;)

@homer It was a joke but seriously industry insiders have been telling me that they WILL soon be able to extract the audio from the video and index it in google’s search results!

@natfinn not sure if thats sarcasm or anger ;)
