A better way of blog commenting via Twitter?

Special Note: This post may require reading more than once ;)

So a spammy email I received earlier prompted me to ask the question:

Question? What do you regard more spammy an unsolicited email or an unsolicited @ on Twitter?

OK and I wanted to add in here an image and link to the 20+ replies from people but can’t as Twitter removed the ‘in reply to’ feature from many tweets (is it Twitter or the Desktop clients at fault here?)

So what I wanted to say was… hmmm but then that idea is screwed up with the lack of ‘in reply to’ DAMN!

Am I saying this out loud or just in my head?

OK thinking as I type here, an exercise only women think they can execute well! (Really! ask my wife!)

So my idea was but it seems to have hit a brick wall. Why do tweets have to contain a url to be logged as a comment on your blog post?

Wouldn’t it be great if you could automatically gather tweets and comments ‘in reply’ to your new post tweet.

Don’t understand what I mean (maybe me either but the idea is coming out as I type….)

I tweet: New post: A better way of blog commenting http://bit.ly/blahblah

You can retweet that if you like that would be great! But how many people have the time to comment these days?

Wouldn’t it be better if it was possible for you just to reply to the comment by replying to my tweet and that automatically added your tweet comment to the end of my blog post?

Maybe I have to register the status update url with the blog post to match it up?

Will comments to retweets of my tweet be able to get tied back to my blog post?Come on backtype is there a way?

I think there’s a reason women think they’re the only ones who can think-out-loud (they really are) – but despite that I really like this idea, it makes a lot of sense in my opinion. I think some savvy developer needs to jump on this and make it happen :)

I got your point but I can’t see actually a benefit from replying or commenting back using twitter because ppl should READ first your blog post to be able to comment on it. right? if a tweet like your example got my attention I would probably click the link to read the post and gather the info to be able to comment back to it. Unless you said everything in that tweet which means that you don’t have to blog then :) I hope you got my point. thx for the post

Totally! My thinking was I have seen many people and I’m guilty of it also that are quite willing to read but go back to Twitter and respond to the Author about it rather than commenting on the post itself, these comments often won’t reference the url of the post so wouldn’t get picked up by Backtype or the other current systems…

yes you are right in that but I feel that comments have a different priority than tweeting because sometimes they are even more interesting than the post itself. In addition to the limitation of tweeting (140 ch.) and I think we all looking for more feedbacks and informative valuable comments :D rather than ” thank you .. of I love you etc” :D just my pov ;D but good concept I like

  3. I use Disqus commenting. So easy and awesome ;)

Thanks Casie! Agree Disqus is awesome I just disabled it actually a few days ago just to try out some other options but even disqus won’t pick up conversations that don;t reference the post url? LOL Maybe what I’m saying is pointless and unnecessary, not sure, just looking for other opinions on this ;)
